Why "Flock 13"? At some point in Les Kouba's career someone mentioned to him that several of his prints had "13" birds. So from then on---13 it was!
Flock 13 Decoys was inspired by, and created to honor Les Kouba, one of the patriarchs of wildlife art. Les Kouba was born and raised in Hutchinson, MN and made his living out of a studio in downtown Minneapolis, MN. Les was an innovator, a salesman and most importantly the finest wildlife artist Minnesota has ever seen! You can see and learn all about Les' history at the McLeod County Historical Museum in Hutchinson, MN and purchase his prints from the Art Barbarians in Rogers, MN.

Carl Melichar
Carl Melichar is Les Kouba's 2nd cousin and Les visited Carl's home place his whole life. Carl resides on his family's 19th century farmstead. The property includes 3 art studios, a historical barn, duck hunting lake and a monarch butterfly sanctuary. Carl has been a wildlife artist, author, videographer, photographer and waterfowl enthusiast his entire life.
Carl is a founding member of Flock 13.
Richard Schiebel
Richard is Carl's lifelong friend, and was also born and raised in Hutchinson, MN, same as Les. Both Les and Carl have been creative inspirations to Richard over the years. Richard is not only a world class decoy carver, but also an accomplished wildlife artist. Richard is responsible for the motivation behind Flock 13 Decoys.
Richard is a founding member of Flock 13.
Bill Diers
Bill Diers is the founder of Flock 13 Decoys. Inspired to hunt ducks by his father, brothers and hometown hunting partners. Brought up hunting Minnesota shallow water sloughs and river bottom oxbows. Forever obsessed with ducks, geese, decoys, wildlife art and photography!
